Description of Sub-project 1
The general objective of Sub-project 1 (Behavioural Effects and Driver-Vehicle-Environment Modelling) is to:- develop a basic understanding of the DVE interaction and the behavioural effects of IVIS and ADAS,
- develop this into a model and
- computer simulation for predicting these effects.
These three major lines of development are carried out in parallel exchanging information and data while work progresses towards the final Overall DVE-Predicting Model/Simulation. download complete description [pdf file 52 kB]

1.1.1b Requirements for HMI design and driver modelling This report describes the set of equations and correlations that may enable to represent in simple and fast running simulation the dynamic interactions between driver-vehicle-environment. download summary

1.1.2 Preliminary model application to existing ADAS and IVIS and guidelines for implementation in design process This deliverable builds on the results Deliverables D 1.1.1a and b, and discusses how a Driver, Vehicle and Environment (DVE) model has to be devised in order to meet designers’ needs and requirements for considering driver behaviour during system design and development. download summary |

1.1.3 Parameters and indicators of behavioural adaptation to ADAS/IVIS for inclusion in DVE model for preliminary design of AIDE system This report consists of a review of the driver behaviour variables and parameters
aimed to be used for the Driver – Vehicle – Environment (DVE) model. download summary |

1.1.4 Final DVE model structure The main goal of this deliverable is to present the "final formulation" of driver-vehicleenvironment model, as it will be implemented in the SP1 simulation tool. download deliverable |

1.1.5 Application of existing ADAS and IVIS functions to final DVE Model The present deliverable concludes the research activity of WP 1 within Subproject 1 (SP 1) of the AIDE Integrated Project. In particular, the general objectives of this document are to provide a basic description of how to account for Advanced Driver Assistance ... download summary |

1.2.1 Behavioural effects of driver assistance systems and road situations This review of the literature is aimed at identifying the main types of problems that arise in the study of the behavioural adaptation induced by different driver support systems. download deliverable
1.2.2 General Experimental Plan for long term behavioural assessment The review of the literature on the Behavioural Effects of Driver Assistance Systems (Deliverable D1_2_1, Saad et al, 2004) has highlighted the lack of knowledge about learning processes and the long-term effects of driver assistance systems. download summary

1.3.2 Driving Simulator Tests and Data Analysis for DVE model validation The objective of this study is to discuss the process of experimental data collection and analysis of real driver performances. These results will then be utilised for the validation set up of the SSDrive numerical simulation tool (presented in D1.3.3). download summary |

1.3.3 DVE Model – Results of validation of model predictions vs Driving Simulator tests The objective of this study is to validate the DVE model developed in AIDE-SP1, and in particular of the Driver component, against the performance of real subjects in a virtual driving simulator. download summary |
1.3.4 Final software release and user manual The purpose of the original modelling approach of DVE and, in particular, of the driver model is not to obtain a simulation of the greater possible fidelity, but to provide a flexible and durable instrument that can be easily configured and expanded. download summary
